The idea of establishing the Sulaimani Steel Company dates back to 2012 with the aim of producing all kinds of steel rods according to American and British standards. Despite the financial crisis and all the obstacles that faced the Kurdistan region, the Sulaimani Steel Company started producing steel rods in 2015.. In the initial phase of production, Sulaymaniyah Steel reached an annual output of 135,000 tons of steel rods of all sizes. In 2018, the company began its second phase of production, which enabled it to increase its annual output to 200,000 tons. Sulaymaniyah Steel provides nearly 1,000 job opportunities, with approximately 350 permanent employees working across all departments of the factory. Additionally, it offers between 600 to 700 jobs for those involved in recycling and scrap handling. Sulaymaniyah Steel is a leader in environmental protection, utilizing advanced technology systems to purify the air and reduce emissions. Environmental protection is one of the company's key goals, with a significant portion of its land allocated for green spaces and gardens. Sulaymaniyah Steel has received numerous certificates of recognition and appreciation from various stakeholders in the Kurdistan Region due to the high quality of its steel rod products.
